Dr. Avnish Seth has pioneered organ donation after brain death in India since 2006. In 2007 he launched the Armed Forces Organ Retrieval & Transplantation Authority (AORTA). As Founding Director he spearheaded the most successful campaign on organ donation after brain death in North India that resulted in over 200 organ transplants. He was awarded the VishishtSeva Medal for meritorious service by the President of India on 26 January 2009. He is currently spearheading the deceased organ donation program in 18 Fortis hospitals across the country as Director of Fortis Organ Retrieval and Transplant (FORT). In 2016 he led the Healthcare Federation of India (NATHEALTH) National Working Group on Organ Transplant. Dr. Seth is a member of International Society for Organ Donation and Procurement (ISODP), Apex Technical Committee for National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) and Advisory board for MOHAN Foundation. The ‘More To Give’ campaign by Fortis Healthcare is the largest awareness drive to promote awareness on organ donation in the country since 2016 reaching out to 68.3 million individuals. The campaign was awarded the ‘Health Care Awareness campaign of the year’ in 2016. A short film on organ donation won the prestigious ‘Dada Saheb Phalke award in the best Public Service Advertisement category’ in 2017. In 2018 Dr. Seth was invited to Geneva for a talk on ‘Organ donation in Asia’.
